But it's vitreous china, and I'm always afraid I'm going to crack it. A nice cast iron sink- I might chip the heck out of it, but I don't have to worry about breaking the entire thing. Do not use this sink without the bottom grate, just to save yourself heartbreak if you drop a steel pot in the bottom. This sink is an eye-catcher, that’s for sure. But it’s vitreous china, and I’m always afraid I’m going to crack it. A nice cast iron sink- I might chip the heck out of it, but I don’t have to worry about breaking the entire thing. Do not use this sink without the bottom grate, just to save yourself heartbreak if you drop a steel pot in the bottom. Didn’t like this product once it came. It lies flimsy and looks and messy on my sink. I will use it for some time and then find a replacement. Know that the color red on the caddy is not very saturated, it is actually a bit on the lighter side. I also found the compartments to be a bit small for my scrubbers. Seems well made and all, but I don’t like the look.

Not thrilled with this purchase. Kitchen mat is interwoven with white thread (hard to see in the photo) so it is not the same shade of yellow as the other Now Designs lemon kitchen products. Also, it stains very easily.

But they shrink. <br/><br/>I washed one using cold water and then dried it on the delicate cycle. While the colors held, the rug shrank about 1.5 inches on each side. Then, I washed a second mat but did not put it in the drier; it had some fading around the edge and had shrunk about 1.5 inches on each side. So, the drier was not the difference...just machine washing made the rugs much much smaller. <br/><br/>In my house, kitchen mats really need to be machine washable and I would prefer machine drying. Thus, I cannot recommend these mats and will have to seek other types to replace the ones that I have. <br/><br/>August 8, 2011: I've looked and looked to find color-fast cotton kitchen mats and only found things that are much worse than these. I wanted to like these mats…. the colors are vivid; the pattern of color and white is lovely; they are soft and comfortable for my feet.

However, they are machine washable only in a limited way in that they are MOSTLY color fast. But they shrink.

I washed one using cold water and then dried it on the delicate cycle. While the colors held, the rug shrank about 1.5 inches on each side. Then, I washed a second mat but did not put it in the drier; it had some fading around the edge and had shrunk about 1.5 inches on each side. So, the drier was not the difference…just machine washing made the rugs much much smaller.

In my house, kitchen mats really need to be machine washable and I would prefer machine drying. Thus, I cannot recommend these mats and will have to seek other types to replace the ones that I have.

August 8, 2011: I’ve looked and looked to find color-fast cotton kitchen mats and only found things that are much worse than these. So, I’ve up-graded my evaluation to a 3 star because these mats are the closest thing to my need that I can find for now.
